Rough Sawn Slabs and Lumber

Bring us out to salvage the wood from your dead, dying, and diseased trees

Log Collection

We (or someone else) can safely remove your tree and get the sawlogs to an area for processing or hauling. Backyard or down a ravine, we can get your logs out.

Portable Sawmill

If you have enough logs we can bring the bandsaw mill to you to save on trucking. We can efficiently process logs up to 40 inches in diameter and 16 feet long. Bigger log? Our Alaskan mill can cut slabs up to 48 inches wide. Why 48 inches? That's as large as the vacuum kiln we use can handle. (Also, they're heavy!)

Offsite Processing

Only a log or two to process or in the confines of the city? It's probably more efficient for us to haul the logs back to our shop for processing.

Why salvage the wood from my dead and dying trees?

First, why not? It's your wood, a valuable and quite useful resource. Get it while you can.

Second, it benefits the surrounding trees by destroying the conditions needed by insect and disease pathogens to reproduce and spread.

Third, it locks up Carbon. Chipping or burning the wood releases the Carbon back to the atmosphere while lumber (even if it stays piled up in your garage for decades) keeps the Carbon stored.

Fourth, you may not have a use for it today, but you might in a year or two.

Fifth, you can always donate it to a high school woodshop class or the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Sixth, preserve a legacy, the story of the tree and site told by the meandering of the tree's growth rings.

What do I do with all this wood?

The options are quite endless. Here's some fun ideas for use around your property and that also make great gifts or craft fair items:

  • Birdhouses, doghouses, cathouses, tortoise houses...

  • Picture frames, mirrors, window frame covers

  • Cutting board, charcuterie board, serving board, trivet

  • Coat rack, hat rack, key rack, pot rack

  • TV tray - the kind that folds up out of the way for storage

  • Bookshelf, potted plant shelf, potting bench, shoe shelf

  • Desk, coffee table, end table, entry bench, picnic table

  • Fence panel, wall panel, room separator, fire pit wind blocker

  • Tongue and groove flooring, paneling, decking
